For two millennia, the Roman Catholic Church has taught clearly, and without wavering, that Jesus Christ is really present in the Most Holy Eucharist. His entire created human Body, all of His created human Blood, His entire created human Soul, and His entire uncreated eternal Divinity, are all really and truly present in the consecrated bread and in the consecreated wine, and in every part thereof as long as the appearance of bread and wine remain.
This is our Faith, because Jesus said it clearly in John 6, and at the Last Supper. Today’s cynical generation says that it rejects this teaching because it cannot be verified by scientific methods. This is odd, since we already knew that. It is even odder when one considers the immense number of things that this same generation believes without any scientific evidence, let alone proof.
When doubters and scoffers challenge our faith, we must be ready to answer them, lest we be like an empty fire extinguisher in the face of a raging fire.
In addition to the Bible, there are uncountably many resources for prayerful study of the mysteries of the Most Holy Eucharist, but here are perhaps the three most fundamental ones. It is my ardent hope and sincere prayer that you read and study these assiduously, so that you may face the cynics’ fire, and extinguish it with the cooling blast of the Holy Spirit.
